Commenting on his nose and admiring her handywork -- because it had been very crooked when she'd broken it -- helped to distract Riley from the storm a little bit. Her head tilted and she squinted in the darkness that came after the flash of lightning died away, and with it her distraction. She became aware of the lightning and thunder once more and she began to think that it wouldn't ever end. They'd never get out of the cave and, one day, someone would find their corpses huddled together in the dark cave. The kiss was completely unexpected. Her eyes widened and she sat there absolutely frozen for a few seconds, though it seemed like much longer before she finally reacted. Her eyes slipped shut and she kissed him back, one of her hands moving to rest against the side of his neck. She was suddenly very aware of her own heartbeat and how it seemed to thunder in her ears and completely drown out all of the noise outside of the cave. Logan's distraction worked. She had stopped shaking and had calmed down considerably compared to just a few minutes before when she'd been hiding her face and covering her ears. This .... definitely was a much better distraction than thinking about a few good memories from an otherwise horrible childhood. Riley pulled back, her eyes searching Logan's face as another streak of lightning flashed and she grinned. "Now who can't stay away from who?" She asked, but before Logan could reply with his typical smartass answer she pulled him in for another kiss. "."

I couldn't Lie, couldn't lie couldn't lie Everything that kills me makes me feel alive That grin she flashed him, with the lightning brightening the cave just so, was perfect. Her teasing demeanor was back, where a few moments prior he had felt her freeze in his kiss. Felt her hesitate for just a moment. Granted, he could take the breath away from any woman, so it made sense. All he wanted was for her to relax, to calm from the storm so that she could stop focusing on her fears before she had a panic attack and…Okay. When she held his face and looked up at him it just sort of happened. It wasn’t planned, but it sure seemed to work pretty good. Especially since she had already made a smartass comment, and gave him no time to respond back before she was ‘jumping his bones – but not really.
Closer. Closer. He wanted her closer. His pulse seeming to echo in his ears, and the feel of her seemed to drown everything out until he bit at her bottom lip slightly, and then pulled away ever so slightly. His eyes studying her face before moving beyond. And then his lips curled upwards, and he smiled, smiled the first true smile since they had been laughing on the beach..Silence. An eerie silence. The static still seemed to be in every breath, but who knew if that was from the storm or the mere fact that his body was buzzing. There was no trees crashing. There was no wind. There was not thunder. There was no flashing of light. Just…Silence and their own breath. ”The storm is over.”
And just like that he became very apparent of the girl that was entwined around him, and the dog that was just to the side of them, and the fact they were in a tiny ass cave with no natural light and a tree semi-blocking the doorway. And just like that, calmness seemed to fill the area, just as it did before the storm. Funny how nature do that. ”I should” He cleared his throat, as if he hadn’t spoken in a while, and glanced towards the entrance of the cave again. ”I should probably go check that out”

Being kissed by an attractive man, was one hell of a way to distract a woman from her fears and, thankfully, it worked. Riley was more focused on Logan than the storm that raged outside of the cave. The rough stubble on his face, the smooth expanse of his skin, her heart pounding in her ears. It completely took over her focus and for just a few minutes it was just her and Logan. He bit her lip and it made her gasp, but the sensation was not at all unpleasant. In fact it made her heart beat that much quicker and she pressed herself closer to Logan. When his head lifted and he looked toward the cave entrance she took the chance to brush kisses against his jawline. It took a few seconds for his words to register in her brain and when they did she stopped and turned her head to look outside of the cave. He was right. There was no more flashing light, no more earth shattering thunder, Everything was silent except for the heavy sound of their breathing. It was ... bittersweet, Riley thought. It had been a long time since she'd enjoyed the touch of a man and it was suddenly cut short by the storms abrupt end. She couldn't help but think that it was typical Petra Exterior fashion, though. Everything ended as abruptly as it began and nothing made sense. Logan's voice drew her attention from the outside world back to him and she looked up at him, becoming more and more aware of the state they were in. She was quiet, contemplating what to say when he said that he should go check that out. "I guess so." She murmured. "Or we can stay right here for a few minutes. To make sure the storm is really over." Nice cover up, but he probably wouldn't buy it. "."

I couldn't Lie, couldn't lie couldn't lie Everything that kills me makes me feel alive His one hand was gripping hard on her hip, enough that his hold would probably bruise her. His eyes stared out the cave entrance before returning to the nameless girl. A few minutes prior she had been a shaking mess. He had known that fear, had tasted it himself. Knew the panic that had gripped her, and then he found himself kissing her and pulling her against him as much he could. A distraction. That was all it was.
His eyes moved away from the entrance and stared down at her face. Lips inches apart. Her complexion didn’t seem as pale as it had just a few moments prior. He could feel her breathing against his chest. She really didn’t need a distraction anymore. The storm was over. And it was just meant as a distraction after all – And there was something very important he had to do at that exact moment in time. With a low voice, and that smug smile crossing his features again -”Rain check. I really need to check on my stuff.. Pausing a moment before he realized he still had her pressed against him. His eyes dipped down in brief hesitation before he loosened his grip. ” And I’ll want more than a few minutes.”
Normally he’d bury his treasure where he could easily uncover it, but it would be impossible for others to find. Here, it was at the edge of a water during a storm barely covered. Without his gun, his blade, how would he hunt? It would be a hell of a lot hard, that was for sure. As much as spending a few minutes with her would be pleasant, it was definitely not high on the scale when it came to finding and getting his things. At least this time he was in a proper mindset and not blanking out on the way back, inspite of all the twists and turns, the only thing would be that everything would be different with trees having fallen. The sand would have mixed up too. And he really, really hoped the water didn’t gain a tide from the wind.

Rain check? Seriously? He seemed to hesitate before finally letting her go, but when he did she moved off of his lap. "Your loss." She said just as he said he'd want more than just a few minutes. That made Riley look back at him, her an eyebrow arching. "Is that so?" She asked, amused that he was even assuming that he would have a chance again. Riley waited for Logan to crawl out of the small cave then followed after him. Once outside she whistled for Sam. The dog came out of the cave and sat next to Riley while she looked around. The storm's aftermath was evident in the trees that had been struck, It made goosebumps rise up on her arms and she ran her hands up and down them. They were definitely lucky that Logan had found the cave when he had, because there was no way they could have survived that storm if they had stayed out in it. There was no way that Riley was going back to the beach. She'd had enough of the sand and the water -- and lightning -- to last her several lifetimes. All she wanted was to get back to her little cave in the mountains that she'd called home for all of the scorch and decide on whether or not she wanted to stay there or go back to Exurbia. And she wanted to pretend that today had never even happened. But it did and she knew that she owed Logan, which sucked. "Hey." She said suddenly and she reached and grabbed Logan's hand and turned it palm up. She reached and pulled the pack of cigarettes and the lighter out of her pocket and placed them in Logan's hand. It was a new pack, only two cigarettes were missing out of it, so it would last him a while ... and it was a decent way of paying him back. Y'know. For saving her life and keeping her from having a panic attack. "See ya around." Her hands dropped and she turned and started walking back to the mountains. "."
