[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can't hear you You're talking to yourself
The night was high in the sky as a figure ran through the trees of the forest with no proper direction or movement. Bare feet danced across the uneven land as if it was a ballet room, and her body slithered around the trees in a way that seemed to show not a care in the world. Her entire body was light, moving to a rhythm that she softly sang out. Talwyn was like that. Able to become lost in her own thoughts so much so that the entire world drifted to nothingness around her. Sure, she was in an isolated forest in the dark with no one around, but to her she just didn’t care. The isolation of the forest was always, and will always, be her home. Voice ringing out in the silence in a smooth and silky lullaby before suddenly she laughed without restraint. ”You aren’t even trying to catch me!” Collie’s voice rang out to no one but Talwyn, before the imaginary friend stomped her foot like a little child and then ran off fast – Disappearing around a tree. Talwyn rolled her eyes before her laughter rang out, the song ending as she began to move her bare feet strong across the ground. Zig Zagging around the trees. Her hands touching each tree as she ran past it before pushing off again. Pure enjoyment over the fact she could release in simple entertainment. Everyone but Collie was always so down and sad. Even Colette, that healer she had met, was so serious. And everyone always looked at her like she was crazy. Did they not realize she saw more than them? their insecurities? And they got so mad when she pointed it out. It wasn’t her fault. Her brother always said she was too blunt. But why lie? He also stated she was too smart for her own good. Tal. The only person who didn’t look at her as if she was crazy, and actually knew her full capabilities. The thought of her brother caused her to suddenly become distracted as she turned around a tree while running after her imaginary friend. As she rounded the final tree, her bare foot snagged on a root and she tumbled forward in a less than flattering flail before knocking into something, or, as she looked up, she realized someone ”I tripped.” See. Blunt. Not crazy. If you just ignored the whole, you know, chasing an imaginary person in the middle of nowhere part of her personality. ### NOTES: i'll have our logan thread soon

e zra had since given up on most of the people here. followers, the lot of them! they were content to reap the benefits of living the clan life deep in the mountains without actually putting forth the effort to contribute. because of this, there were a few times where there wasn't enough food to feed all the people. ezra was fine though because she sneaked some earlier when people weren't looking, but that wasn't the point. she decided to take matters into her own hands. she bartered with an old man making arrows - some tough (stolen) meat for a couple sharp pointy sticks. they were good for stabbing. and so she wandered north, being careful to time it right as night settled so that she could get the most out of her journey. she heard whispers of small edible creatures north of the mountains and figured if she was going to try anywhere first, it would be there. so she gathered what little she had - at this point it was a thick branch sharpened on both ends for maximum stabbing capacity, her canteen with only water this time, her journal, and the clothes on her back. why the hell was i so sentimental... why the journal, why couldn't it be like a knife or something. damnit! she scolded herself as she traveled north. the stars were different in this galaxy so it was hard to navigate which direction she was heading after a while. behind her, the mountains sort of blended in with the night. ezra stopped to fill her canteen and splash some water from a small pool on her face when she heard running and laughing in the distance. she looked around suspiciously, trying to figure out where the hell it was coming from. the sounds in this forest echoed in every direction, it was almost disorienting. ezra was about to just shrug and claim herself crazy when something crashed into her backside. she stumbled forward, barely able to catch herself. she gripped her spear (aka stabby thing) and pointed it at... a girl? "dude, what the hell?" was all she could get out. ezra lowered her spear slightly, so that the point wasnt sticking her face, but enough to thrust if there were too sudden of movements. "what are you doing, running around here? do you even have a weapon to protect yourself? and was that you laughing too?" ezra interrogated, clearly weirded the hell out.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can't hear you You're talking to yourself
Talwyn’s eyes widened as she stared at the girl with a spear in her hand, and she rattled on about ‘what the hell’ – whatever that meant. She knew very little about religion, but heard it had to do with bad people. This girl seemed very angry for simply being bumped into. What was that phrase her papa had used a few times before? Something about a female dog. What was that word? – A weapon? Talwyn glanced down at herself, from the ripped leggings to the white sundress that was ironically very clean for having spent months in nothing but dirt and grime. Weapon. Weapon. The word echoed in her mind for just a split moment, before she lifted up her finger in a ‘one moment’ signal and raised the end of her dress upwards without much care and grabbed what looked like a dagger that was tied with a shoe string around her upper thigh. Not a care in the world as she let her dress fall back down
A wooden dagger, that was as sharp as steel and intricately hand made wolf design on the hilt. “I have this. It is a little bit easier to run around with than a spear. You should really be more careful running around with such a clumsy weapon.” Her hand flicked as if in emphasis to the weapon the girl was holding, before Talwyn took a step back. Collie’s voice rang in her head that she was awfully close to the pointed end of the spear so her hand reached out and touched the flat top and pushed is to the side away from her face. ”And perhaps not point it at innocent girls just running around the forest. You know. Cause murdering people is not ---Oh my god you are beautiful. You have that whole ‘I’m going to stab you if you move wrong’ vibe I’ve read about”
Her excitement was palpable, and sparkling blue eyes widened again up at the girl before she glanced around the forest. Now just realizing she was alone with a stranger who seemed adamantly mean towards her. ”Also, dude” Her tone was off, as if she had no idea how to actually say the word – After all it wasn’t like she had much practice. ”I was laughing out of joy. And I was totally not talking to anyone, well at least not anyone that is here.” And suddenly a quick change of topic as her soft voice rose an octave in sudden exclamation:” Hey, want to see something pretty –“ She paused for a moment, as if thinking for the word that would ideally represent the conversation at hand. ”pretty wicked? It’ll be a cool adventure..” The words were again a bit off, as if they were too elongated. Wicked and dude were definitely not something she’d ever heard from her papa. With her free hand, and a quick glance around to make sure Collie was not around, she reached out to grab the girls hand and lead the way – assuming this grumpy girl would want to go on an adventure with her.

e zra didn't usually get taken by surprise. but when this girl lifted up her dress with no warning other than the infamous "mom finger", she stood there completely bewildered. granted, she had leggings underneath so it wasn't terribly lewd, but it still threw her off. the girl waved her wooden dagger around, but she wasn't threatening - which in itself is very strange. ezra said nothing, but could feel her mouth hanging open in shock. she closed it abruptly, and her eye twitched in response. she mouthed "clumsy weapon", slightly offended as the girl gently pushed the spear tip away. ezra stood upright and shook droplets of water from her hair. "not so sure about the innocent part.. she muttered under her breath, taking a precautionary step back. "you know if you didn't make me feel so weird might be inclined to stab you, but here we are.."ezra narrowed her eyes suspiciously when she said "dude" with some weird pronunciation, unsure if she was being made fun of or not. she decided on the latter, clearly this kid was a space cadet. ezra looked around. anyone here? trees, grass, dirt, leaves - nothing worth talking to. what was this girl going on about? she flinched instinctively when talwyn reached out for her hand. nothing personal, she just didn't trust anyone. ezra decided she was PROBABLY harmless, so she smiled apologetically and placed her hand in talwyns. she still kept her spear behind her, just in case. "so.. what exactly are we going to see on this "adventure"? she questioned, ducking under a low hanging branch. and what am i getting myself into? "as far as i know, there's nothing up here," she continued, pausing to scrape bark off a nearby tree. "so we know which way gets us back."

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can't hear you You're talking to yourself
Talwyn simply tilted her head to the side, her eyes looking puzzled as the girl stated she would stab her. Why would anyone stab her? What an odd thing to say. What a peculiar beautiful girl this was. Collie would definitely not approve of her going on an adventure with this stranger. You know, because of the whole stabbing threat thing. But, people seemed to threaten to stab or punch people a lot for some reason and it never really went anywhere. Wyn’s sense of ‘danger’ really was pretty much non-existent.
Wyn watched as the nameless stranger in front of her glanced around as if looking for someone. Did she not hear her say it was someone not here? People were odd, no wonder her father rarely let her go into town. And by rarely, that’s pretty much never. When Talwyn grabbed at her hand, she felt her pull away before studying her. Wyn just stared back with her wide innocent eyes and slight confusion on her part but then it vanished instantly and was replaced with a brightening smile when she grabbed her hand again. ”Wonderful! Oh it is SO perfect! You have to see!”
Talwyn began to tug on her new acquaintances hand slightly, leading the way through the forest area and pausing only briefly for Ezra to mark the way as she went. As she walked, her bare feet maneuvering the harsh ground without any trouble, she spoke to Ezra, glancing back slightly. ”Why do I make you feel weird? Is that a bad thing? I’d think that would be a good thing. Feeling different can be exciting! It is not as if you threatening to stab me with your clumsy weapon made me feel happy. Maybe it is you who is making me feel weird? But see. Even though we both make each other weird, we are going on an adventure together. Besides you can always stab me later if you want. The last phrase was nonchalantly tossed over her shoulder.
”I am Talwyn. But you may call me Wyn. You will be my new adventure friend, and don’t you worry, I will protect you from danger since you only have that clumsy weapon. What may I call you? Is dude your nickname?’ Despite her talking, her voice remained quiet and soothing as if not to disrupt that around her. Or, you know, attract any of the man eating beasts. She was walking without fear, her fingers linked within the nameless girls, determination yet kindness spread across her face. Their path was a bit zig zagged as they made it through the trees to get to the place she had in her mind. Yes. They were following Talwyn’s reliable memory. In the dark. Adventure!

e zra had a hard time believing this was really happening. walking in a forest, holding some girls hand she JUST met, traveling in a direction she wasn't so sure of. earth was bad, but life on PE was just weird. she blinked hard a few times, trying to discern if she was in a dream or not. ezra was brought back to attention when she started talking again. she pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes. "you're just a little different.. that's all. how old are you anyway?" she seemed like an adult, but had the personality of a 10 year old. ezra let out a sharp laugh at her stab-you-later comment. "don't tempt me, kid. i haven't gotten to use this thing yet. maybe if we meet a monster you'll see it's not as clumsy as you think!" ezra shifted the spear in her hand, trying to keep it straight. alright - it was a little heavy but that's besides the point! talwyn, hm? "whoa don't get ahead of yourself, just because i'm following you doesn't mean we're friends. yet," ezra laughed harder this time, wheezing slightly. "you protect me?" she giggled. "no no i don't need protecting. there's nothing out here except trees and dirt! come on be practical, your baby knife wouldn't kill a PE squirrel." she considered lying to talwyn about who she was, just because she could. she decided against it though, maybe the kid was more capable than she let on. "ezra." she replied matter-of-factly. there was a moment of silence before ezra felt a weird chill over her shoulder. she shuddered instinctively, pulling talwyn closer. "are you sure you're alone? i have a weird feeling."

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can't hear you You're talking to yourself
How old was she? Such a simple question and yet not simple in the least. She began tracking what her brother told her over and over about her age before her brows furrowed slightly. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts as she felt the threat of Collie coming back to tell her not to bring Ezra on the adventure. Age. Age. How old was she. ”Twenty six.” The words came out before she smiled brilliantly at Ezra and then looked forward again as she began to move. At Ezra’s comment about how her spear wasn’t as clumsy as it looked, Wyn just snorted. Yes, she actually snorted at the comment, and stated nothing in return. Little did Ezra know that Talwyn was a genius when it came to most things, it was just that her view on life was a little convoluted than most. One time when she was young her brother brought her some writing on paper that he wanted her to fill out. CQ test? IK test? TO test? Something like that, but she cared more about trying to get Zip to learn to come back to her than she cared for whatever huge paper he was providing her. Ah! IQ! That is what it was. Collie kept trying to tell her that it was good, but Wyn just found it absolutely dull and boring. ”My baby knife could do a lot more than your clumsy staff thing. Are you trying to be a wizard with how heavy it is? I will give you one that will not be so icky” Her brow lifted in questioning, arching over her eye as she glanced back slightly before tugging on Ezra’s hand just gently to show they were making a sharp turn around a tree. Odd. She had never held another individuals hand before, except her brothers. Ezra was also the second person she had given her true name too since arriving. You are so weird! Why are you bringing some strange girl to your spot? It is our find. Not hers. But Talwyn was definitely not paying any attention to Collie, as Ezra gave her name. That brilliant all encompassing smile came back before abruptly she was pulled closer to the stranger. Her brother told her it was weird to smell people, so she avoided doing that. The amusement over the fact that Ezra had literally just said there was nothing up here but trees and dirt, and was now a bit concerned that they weren’t alone, was not lost on Wyn. At the mention of not being alone though, Talwyn’s eyes flickered over Ezra’s shoulder for just a moment to look at Collie who was only a few feet off shaking her head. It was just a moment before she glanced up at Ezra’s face and her vision focused again on reality. One hand came up and she touched Ezra’s tattoo on her neck, fingers brushing it lightly as her eyes looked at it. Just a breath. Just a moment of time before she spun away as if she’d done nothing at all with a big smile. Talwyn had never seen such drawings on someone before. “Friends come and go, for now you are my friend. You may not be later, if you choose.” she called over her shoulder as she walked forward and then crouched down and pushed through a hole in a very large bush and pulled out the other end. It was a pool of water, crystal clear so the bottom could be seen, yet deeper than it looked. Plants seemed to cover the area with purple and pink leaves, almost seeming to illuminate in the dark and the water itself sparkled with the light of the moon. Surrounding the pool on the leaves, little fluff ball type things could be seen bouncing around the leaves, and Talwyn clapped her hands slightly in delight. ”Come. It is so pretty! But do not touch the fuzzy ants please. The last person who did went all weird. If you don't go near them, they are so fun to watch! And they seem to keep all the bad creatures away.” Little did she know that if it wasn’t for the bad creatures feeding the budgies, that she would probably be their next meal. Luckily they seemed satiated with the fact her presence here had started to bring more food than anything.

RANDOM EVENT READ AND REACT What a lovely little area you've found! You know what happens when you penetrate a very hard-to-get-to hideout, though? You disturb the wildlife. Leaves start showering down as the canopy above you comes alive with a series of nervous chitters and screeches. The smaller creatures are scurrying away, but the larger ones aren't so keen on abandoning their home. Just as you look up, several things swoop down at you, talons bared. Congratulations, you've discovered a Vesper den.

e zra's hair stood on end as talwyns gaze flickered from her, to empty space behind her. she refused to look. whatever the hell it was, it could just mind its own business. she went rigid when wyn's hand went to her throat. her instinct told her fight, but even before a moment had passed, talwyn went spinning off in the other direction. ezra rubbed her neck in attempt to calm her tingling skin. the hell is going on here? she hesitated before following her through the brush, casting a quick glance back into the forest they were leaving behind. empty and quiet. too quiet.. ezra gasped as the forest opened before them. purple and pink plants gave off fluorescent light, making it almost look like a unicorn hideout. she stood over the waters edge, entranced by the perfect reflection. ezra stepped backwards as the fuzzy little ants climbed near her feet. "go weird, huh? wonder why, these guys are kinda cute," she replied, bending down to get a better look. one of the ants caught her gaze, and fluffed its fur. she growled at it, and it bared its teeth in return. they shared a moment standoff, before it looked up towards the canopy and scurried off. ezra let out a victory laugh. "how'd you find this place?" she asked, returning to the waters edge. she picked at leaf, admiring the glittery purple veins and fractal designs. curious, she held it up towards the canopy hoping to catch it a ray of light. ezra's face hardened as she heard loud screeches and the rustle of leaves above. there, just feet above them, a vesper. oh wait, nope.. multiple. just had to say there's nothing but dirt right? had to be sarcastic and mention monsters! ezra rolled, barely escaping scissor like talons. "okay what the fuck do we do?" ezra barked to talwyn, hightailing towards shrubbery - some sort of cover. the vesper landed behind her, sending a tremor through the soil. if there could be a forest fire, today would be the BEST day for it. ezra stepped backwards lightly, unsure if it would be the last.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can't hear you You're talking to yourself
Wyn watched as Ezra had a little stand off with the fluffy any, and her brow arched in response. The stranger girl was actually trying to dominate over Talwyn’s little friends and it amused her to no end. Gosh! What a weird girl she was, wasn’t she? First trying to stab talwyn in the face and then trying to intimidate little ants that meant her no harm. She remembered the last person she saw that the little fluffballs had touched, and he had gone all loopy. Loopy enough that even crazy Talwyn had noticed the change. It didn’t take long though, before he became aggressive and then, then he was gone. She hadn’t seen him in a while, and seeing how she knew that the budgies ate all the big guys around her little home, it didn’t take much for her to guess what happened. Oh Well. He was mean to her anyways, and intruded in her home when she didn’t want him there.
The screeches had caught the crazy girl off guard. Her eyes widening, but not with panic, with a strange enthusiasm as she glanced upwards to the darkness. The thing about Wyn was, she had a bond with animals. With all creatures. How else could she have a hawk that she could silently communicate with, or a wolf that thought of her as Alpha, and only her. To be fair, she had grown up in woods surrounded by only animals, so maybe it was because she was slightly like Tarzan. Brilliant blue eyes studied the sound as another screech filled the air, and before she could really get a good glimpse, Ezra was bringing her back to reality as a Vesper landed behind Era. What could she do? They always came in pairs, or groups, and only one was on the ground and was after her new friend that she had to protect.
Eyes flashed behind Ezra then to the sky before she raised up her arm, and brought it down snapping then booked it. Barely escaping as another Vesper grounded near them. She ran past, ignoring as the talons reached for her and grabbed Ezra’s hand in a firm grip. ”Run” Was her comment just as her hawk came soaring out of nowhere and his small frame shot past them to dive just over the Vesper’s head. It was just enough attention, just enough of a distraction to give them a heads up. Panic rose through her at that moment, hoping that her hawk friend would be okay. Hoping he could out fly the Vesper that had suddenly appeared and chased him up into the sky. Hoping that she didn’t make a mistake calling him down from the treetops to save some stranger.
She booked it, pulling at Ezra’s hand but not letting go, running through the bush and ignoring as the branches whipped across her knees. Across her arms. Across her face. Twisting. Turning. Running. Bare feet silently scrambling behind them before the screech could be heard. They needed to hide. They needed to hide and real fast because no one could out run a Vesper. The best chance they had was that the barrage of trees would keep the Vesper from being able to fly high above them easily. She turned, Twisted around trees in a zig zag and what seemed to make no sense - pulling Ezra behind her and hoping the girl didn’t fall. ”You have to jump, okay? You Have too or you wont make it.” She was yelling it behind her, hoping the girl could hear her through what felt like her heart beating in her chest.
And then suddenly the ground dipped drastically down. What was once flat surface dropped in a steep hill, down into what looked like pure shrubberies. And Talwyn leapt without hesitation, her hand letting go of Ezra’s just before until she landed on the slope and rolled and bumped down the hill and into the shrubs which completely blocked out the night sky. But the shrubs were not just prickle shrubs, they were a roof, and underneath the openness of forest floor opened up just enough that one could lay down flat. The shrubs above completely blocking out their view from the Vesper, and better yet the scent permeating from the bushes would mask their scent.
Her breathing was erratic, and her eyes glancing around before she started to smile a big grin ear to ear. Thank god Collie was there, because Talwyn had no idea where she had been going. ”See. I protect you.”

e zra almost decided to just stab herself seppuku style when talwyn started SMILING at the giant bat-birds that descended upon them with one thing in mind: food. no, no she was definitely on something. how many times did she think that in the short time they were together? she'd count later. ezra was completely gripped with a primal fear that only a prey would feel when faced with a predator. which, you know, wasn’t normal. humans-these ones in particular- were not meant to be hunted. ezra set her jaw when talwyn snapped in the air. goodbye cruel world, time to offer herself up chuck roast style with an apple. after that, everything happened so fast. sassy snap, talwyn grabbing her hand (she didn’t flinch this time, improvement or lack of reaction time?) and immediately pulling her into a sprint. ezra followed, casting a glance behind her before they disappeared from the brush. a brown-orange bullet shaped creature shot out of the air, diving between them and the group of Vespers. she called it, didn’t she? they crashed through thick, spiky brambles and bushes, escaping the furious screeches and ominous rumbles. ezra could barely make out whatever talwyn was yelling over her shoulder. she caught just one word – jump. first a vesper den, then jumping off things? this girl must have been the most intense, crazy adrenaline junkie there was. this kind of stuff never happened in real life on earth. well then again, humans owned earth. PE was different; it merely allowed them to live within their bounds. stray from it? dead. just like she was about to be when the ground sloped downward at an angle clearly not meant for people running in terror from man eating beasts. ezra had a flicker of sadness when talwyn let go of her hand. if she was going to die, she didn’t want to do it alone. she didn’t really have that immediate “free falling” feeling. if you ever watched cartoons where the coyote chased a bird off the edge of a cliff, sat in mid air for a moment before plummeting to the earth, it was just like that. one moment stretched to a thousand, a slow motion scene which caught every angle of ezra’s bad side. wily hair, spittle on her lip, large surprised eyes, shallow cuts already scabbed over… need we go on? then her shoulder met the ground, sending her to a furious tumble – up was down, down was up and… was that her own foot that just kicked her forehead? she half expected to stop in the bushes, and was once again taken by surprise when the “bushes” opened up as she crash landed on them. really, could it get any worse? don’t even go there. being sprawled on flat, level ground was bittersweet. no more falling, but damn it hurt. ezra landed flat on her back, gasping as the wind was knocked from her lungs. talwyn was in no better of shape - she took the brunt force of the branches and vines they ran through. for some reason, ezra felt a pang of guilt. she was just a kid. on the comical side though, there was a twig sticking out from her hair that looked like an antler. ezra froze as she heard wings above. her hand flews to talwyns-and her own- mouth to muffle the sounds of heavy breathing.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can't hear you You're talking to yourself
Talwyn was the most insane adrenaline junky one could ever meet. Risk. Adventure. It all built what made her happy. The feeling of her heart in her throat, and her breathing raspy, the feel of the scrapes and bruises that were already forming – All of it – What a rush! What excitement! That is what life was all about, after all, wasn’t it? Not sitting in front of a television (whatever that is – she never seen one) or doing a 9-5 job. It was running and playing and doing everything and anything your thoughts and dreams could possibly come up with. It was freedom. Her heart was still pounding as suddenly a tarnished Ezra put her hand over Talwyn’s mouth to try to silence her breathing.
Wide eyes watched above, trying to peering through the trees to get a glimpse of the Vespers that were obviously circling above. They could do one of two things, wait it out, or move on. She could hear Collie telling her to stay still. To just wait, and the Vespers would get bored and move on. She could hear her just ot the right of her, but Wyn did what she did best and ignored her. With a large smile she pulled Ezra’s hand away from her mouth. “Common kid, let’s go-“ Her voice was quiet, but you could see her eyes sparkling in excitement before she began to crawl as low as possible to try to avoid the prickles that were pointed down towards them.
She remained silent until they reached the edge of the field of bushes.. The slight shadows of Vespers could not be seen anymore, could not be heard. Although when could you ever hear them? With the den being farther away now, it was doubtful they were travelling to go that far from their den. Without warning Talwyn pulled Ezra with her out of the bush and she jumped upwards to stand finally. Her arms stretching high in the air as she looked around before grinning from ear to ear
”That was perfect! Did you see your face when you jumped? I didn’t think you would! I thought for sure you were toast on bread” Yeah her sayings never made quite sense. As she spoke her laughter seemed to echo out, and not a sign of the Vespers were around. Abruptly she turned and ran back towards her new friend, her arms wrapped around Ezra's neck, arms hanging loose before she pressed a quick kiss to her cheek and then before Ezra could stab her or something, she pulled away and spread her arms over her head and twirled again in the fresh air. ”I told you you were my adventure friend! And I told you I would protect you Oh wow! Did you see the size of their wings? So beautiful!”

e zra snorted in amusement when talwyn called her kid, but still crawled to follow her out of the brush. she had lost her bearings completely, and her brain was still slightly in panic mode. did that really just happen? ezra found herself once again questioning reality - which had never happened until the moment she met talwyn. maybe it was her otherworldly attitude and naivety? that was pretty refreshing considering most people she met in her life were dirty good-for-nothing thugs. maybe she'd keep talwyn around for the long run! ezra yelped when talwyn disappeared only to have her hands reach back into the brush and pull her out. she stood upright, fixing the unruly mop on her head. she strained her ears, listening for any vesper-sounds....nothing. again, talwyn's optimism threw her for a whirl. "toast.. is bread? wait what?" she furrowed her brow in concern, then just decided to drop it. she probably wasn't going to make sense of what she meant so it was easier just to go along with it. ezra nearly toppled over when her new adventure (aka danger) friend embraced her. this definitely was something to get used to. she resisted the urge to wipe that peck off her cheek. not all people are bad, you know she shook her head, laughing slightly. "most gruesome things i've ever seen, hopefully we won't meet them again. speaking of, do you have any idea where we are?" ezra peered at their surroundings, on one side was the brush they crawled through, and everywhere else was forest. it seemed a little thicker here - the trees hugged closer to each other and the roots were so large and gnarled they reached her shin. they'd have a hell of a time navigating. that's when she got a bright idea. "hey since we're adventure friends now, we should try to figure out where to go next by climbing these trees," ezra tested her weight on a branch, ascending slowly. she ripped slippery moss from the side of the tree so she could get better leverage. she wondered what would await at the top of the canopy.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can't hear you You're talking to yourself
Do you have any idea where we are?
What a silly question to ask, they were in the forest! Talwyn watched Ezra, wondering if the girl may have a screw loose. How could one be lost when they were where they were? Why did it matter where they were, when everywhere was new anyways? But then Ezra was calling her her friend, and Talwyn’s doubts on her sanity vanished instantly(Because apparently being friends with talwyn meant she was sane. Because that makes sense.) Her face lit up, and she spun to face a tree, tilting her chin to look up. Climb a tree? Well that was definitely an idea! Perhaps they could get a closer look at the world they were in, or see if any Vespers were near. Talwyn wishes she could see them from above, instead of always being below them, because normally that meant she was running for her life.
Exhilarating!
The girl instantly jumped up, and began to climb the opposite side of Ezra, but on the same tree. The problem being, Talwyn could climb any tree imagineable. She did live in a forest for the first 20 something years of her life. She would pause and glance at Ezra with a smile, then continue upwards feverously. “Higher. The higher we get, the more certain you can be that you are where you are meant to be.” basically meaning they would be able to get their bearings straight. Although, if anything, Talwyn could just call Zip and he would lead them back. Zip. Her brows drew together, face tilting upwards to watch where they were heading.
She hadn’t seen him since the Vespers. Normally it wouldn’t be this long before he returned. Normally he would be back by then. Maybe being higher will help Wyn too. She hopped up to another branch, her foot hitting a thin part and it snapped off. With pure body strength she caught herself, immediately pulling herself up on a larger branch and looking down as the stick bounced off of Ezra’s back. Her eyes were wide, but not in fear, more like thrill as she looked how far they had come. ”You have got to look down, look how high we are!” Because apparently she had never heard of the whole ‘never look down’ quote before. She remained balancing with her arms holding her up, and one foot next to her hand.

e zra regretted the decision to climb the tree when talwyn immediately started showing her up. she slipped a few times, unable to get a firm grasp. after a few times of trial and error, she finally got the hang of it. these trees weren’t like the ones back on earth. they were ancient and strong, you could almost feel the slow ebb of power within them. the redwoods from earth paled in comparison – it almost felt like the higher up you went the more massive they became. was she sure that climbing them was the best idea? nope. ezra snaked upwards slowly, testing her weight at every branch and hugging her body close the bark. her forearms burned in animosity, threatening her at every ascent. fuck that! keep on going, if you stop you will freeze. she glanced upwards, growling to herself as talwyn hopped from branch to branch, swinging to and fro like she was playing a game. “if you fall, im gonna be so pissed!” she yelled upwards, looking around in alarm as her voice echoed. so pissed, so pissed, so pissed. now that ezra was paying attention... she heard nothing else. no birds, insects, rustle of leaves, nothing. “Ah im pretty sure we are meant to be on the ground now!” she replied, clinging pitifully to a large branch. ezra knew it was a bad idea to look down, but she decided to anyways. damnit talwyn, sparking her curiosity! the second her eyes drifted downwards, she could feel her pupils dialate unevenly, her stomach lurched and her muscles (or lack thereof) stiffened. “holy shit!” she croaked, shrinking from the edges of her sad little branch. ezra refused to move for a few moments, gathering courage to turn around and continue climbing. she had only halfway turned, scooting on her belly when she heard the twig snap. talwyns dead, she's dead that’s it im alone and- SMACK the branch crashed into her back (it didn’t hurt THAT much) and fell harmlessly into the void below. ezra glanced left, right then left again, ready to see a gruesome sight – but nothing? bewildered, she then gazed up. there she was, chimp-tal practically hanging upside down! “what the hell! get right way up, you’re making me nervous. I cant get up there now,” ezra masked her fear with a sharper tone than intended. she hadn’t the slightest idea how high up they were – was the ground even visible anymore? ezra wiped sweat nervously from her forehead as she slowly stood up, and lifted up her hands to talwyn. “think you can help?” she was just ready to get to the canopy, get a good look, and go back to civilization to drink herself to sleep. so much adventure in one day can really tire a person out.
