[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can hear the voice But I don't want to listen Strap me down and tell me I'll be alright
All these people! - If by 'All these people' really meant about 7 or 8. Still, she was so used to the solitary of the forest, and having all these people around caused her to have a bit of anxiety. It was so…loud. People chattering about nothing and everything at once, it was so hard to focus. It almost seemed to ping inside her head in an echo and caused her to just wish that she was back in the forest – but even that was not something she had enjoyed.
Wyn was distracted, looking around the area, and barely paying attention to where she was going. Oh. Right! Yes! Drop! She was so nervous about not having all her things with her for the past few weeks, but at least, at least she still had Collie – Who with all the people around, seemed to have disappeared from her sight.
She saw Zip. Her eyes brightening with tears. She thought she would be without him. She thought…But he was okay. He looked perfect. Beautiful. Majestic. Exhilaration threaded through her veins until she burst forward and pushed past the few people that were at the drop and ripped at the ties that held his makeshift cage shut. With a burst of energy, she tore him free before the redtailed hawk immediately flashed into the sky and circled above her with a screech of delight.
Brilliant blue eyes looked to the tool bag that was next to where she picked up Zip, and she quickly double checked it’s contents before shrugging it over her shoulder. Eyes watched Zip fly around, god how much she wished she could join him. The ability to fly above all else, what magic! At least she had trained him well enough that she could decipher the little twitches, screeches, and flying patterns so she could know what to expect up a head.
Yes. If it wasn’t bad enough that she talked to her imaginary friend, she also spoke to her hawk.

The supply drop was usually an exciting event for Xiao, if only because amidst a sea of alien plantlife and scenery, there was something oddly reassuring about a box of band-aids or a t-shirt. The trek to the drop point had been... interesting; this time he went it alone, sneaking out of the tiny tent that he'd erected with a friend. What could he say? Sometimes it was nice to get out and not have The Voice of Reason constantly in his ear. He had arrived some time before the others but spent a good hour rooting around in the dirt for a fascinating new species of what he presumed was a weed. At least, it appeared to be a weed, with its hardy thorned purple-blue stalk and tiny star-shaped white flowers. It grew in abundance near this area alone, and he was interested to know why it thrived here, but not near the colony. As he straightened, absently rubbing at a finger which had been pricked by a thorn--it was starting to really sting--he noticed the supply pod landing. People thronged around it, eager to reclaim their possessions. With a faint smile, Xiao watched someone elbowing others aside--to great consternation from those who got one in the ribs. Then he blinked; the woman made a beeline for a cage and ripped it open. For a moment, Xiao tracked the bird's ascent into the sky, feeling a swell of some undefinable emotion in his chest. Longing, perhaps; the sight of seagulls wheeling in the skies had been a common sight back home. Here? Not so much. "What kind of bird is that?" he asked as he made his way over, in no particular hurry to sort through the boxes and bags and assorted containers that everyone else was crowding around. Hers wasn't a familiar face; Xiao took it that she was probably from Exurbia, or she was one of those intrepid, brave (yet perhaps slightly crazy) individuals who wandered back and forth across the strange land. "It's really beautiful." His smile was friendly and soft, as his gaze flickered back up to the skies. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can hear the voice But I don't want to listen Strap me down and tell me I'll be alright Her eyes were watering at the sight of Zip in the air, his wings spread far, and pure bliss could be felt in that moment. Her hands were clasped in each other, snug against her chest in a comfort possession. All she had wanted, the days, the weeks, that she had been here, was for her friend to come home. He must have been so scared – if he wasn’t in cryo that is. Seeing him soar high in the air, freedom and space the only thing available to him. She could almost feel the energy of his joy. Luna was still not here, but that was okay for now. At least she had Zip. Her precious, precious friend. Suddenly a voice appeared, and it took her a moment to realize it was not Collie speaking to her, but a young gentleman. She blinked back the surprised look, her eye lashes fluttering as she tried to remember what it was he had said. Oh! Right! ”Red-Tailed Hawk. Oh look how happy he is! I just wish –“ A brilliant smile sparkled in her eyes as she turned to look at him. All the joy she was feeling in that moment plastered on his face in such innocence, it seemed to light her very essence. ”I just wish I could join him. But, I mean, that is impossible. One time I climbed the highest tree I could find over this lake back…home. And I leapt with him!” The excitement at telling this random stranger whatever story flooded into her crowded brain echoed over the crowds surrounding. Of course, she spoke quietly all the same. Always quiet. Growing up in the forest, she was not used to people …To the hustle bustle sounds..Perhaps that was why she tried to stay away from the colony for the past little while. ”And for that one brief moment, I felt so light..So..So..” Her chin tilted up to look at Zip again with that silly smile plastered on her face. ”Free”Who is that? Why is he here? Send him away. Alone. Go away! Collie’s voice, which had been quiet, suddenly burst into her brain and instantly her smile seemed to vanish. Then suddenly she snapped out of the trance of enlightenment and her brows scowled downwards ever so slightly. ”I do not know you.” It was a statement, made wary as if she just realized she was alone with some man she had never seen before. Of course…Al l those people in the short distance didn’t count. She ignore their presence. To her, they were complete in their own little world. And then, much to the randomness that was Wyn, the scowl of wariness vanished as she studied his kind face. ”You have a very pretty smile.”

Her face and her eyes glowed as she spoke ecstatically of the hawk and of flying, drawing another smile out of Xiao. When he was a little kid, his father used to pick him up and play Airplane with him, swinging him around and around as he laughed with giddy delight. His first time on a rollercoaster, his stomach swooped and bottomed out from under him, and his heart leapt almost into his throat. Flying, Xiao always thought, would be like some mix of the two; adrenaline-fueled rapture coupled with the unfettered freedom of the open skies. He watched the hawk until it was lost to sight in the looming darkness, then nodded. "It would be nice, wouldn't it? To be able to go wherever you wanted like that?" Xiao's tone was softly wistful. Freedom here meant a couple of hours at night (or twelve hours hot-footing it across the landscape at night) when the terrible heat didn't penetrate down to his very bones. Freedom wasn't really freedom unless one counted on the mercy of the season or the weather. Xiao turned back to her smile, almost childish in its innocence--in the simple desire that it conveyed--and for a moment he felt... not quite alone. He was by no means innocent, and he didn't think she was either, but there was something appealing in the guileless quality of her smile that struck him in that moment, before the hard wariness stole over her glance. Taken aback, he blinked stupidly for a moment. "Oh! Oh... I'm sorry, I'm Xiao." A slightly wry smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "And you have permission to butcher that however you want." Then, as suddenly as it had appeared, the Look disappeared, replaced by an unexpected compliment. Xiao laughed--he couldn't help it, as the conversation took such a drastic turn--as he rubbed the back of his head with one hand. He never was good at accepting compliments, even though he knew, to some extent, that he wasn't a troll in terms of appearance. "Um. Thanks! You have nice..." hair? He wasn't exactly qualified to comment on the condition of anyone's hair, though, and telling her that her smile was equally nice seemed like an unoriginal cop-out. "...eyes." Sheepishly, he dropped his head for a few seconds, then raised it as he sensed movement all around them. People were preparing to set back out for the mountains again, it appeared. "Do you want to get back to the mountains together?" He swept a glance over the small pile of belongings that were left, but nothing looked as though it belonged to him or to anyone that he knew. [googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I can hear the voice But I don't want to listen Strap me down and tell me I'll be alright
When he gave her his name, and told her she could butcher it if he wanted her brows rose up in a look of ponderment before she rolled her eyes. ”I have no idea how I would cut up a name, what a silly thing to say, but yes. I am Talwyn, but you may definitely call me Wyn, everyone I know does.” And by everyone, she meant her brother..Seeing how she had never met another human in a very very long time. But that was a miniscule little detail that she didn’t think he needed to know.
When he complimented her eyes, she smiled even more, if that was impossible. ”Thank you! I got them from my mother.” And then, he was offering to join her on his trip. Collie was screaming in her head at the idea of having company, and Talwyn’s vision seemed to go far away for a moment before it focused in on his charming little face. Oh look at him though Collie! He is acting so nervous. Why is he nervous? I definitely do not want to leave him on his own! If I did, who would protect him? He definitely needs protecting. He’s so small and nervous.
That decided it then. She will go with this Xiao, and she would protect him. After all, he was all alone and seemed a bit fragile. Without confirmation, she did a little hop before turning and beginning on her way, a little skip to her step. She had never walked with anyone before, so she was a bit enthusiastic for it. With a little flick of her wrist upwards, Zip came down a little fast and swept with his wings brushing up the hair of the gentleman that was now behind her before he swooped in a circle around Talwyn’s head. Another flick of her index finger and he maneuvered himself about twenty feet above, and a few feet a head.
Pausing, she spun on her heels, confused as to why he was a bit far behind. ”I thought you wanted to come? I cannot protect you if you stay behind me, You know.” Nevermind the fact he was barely behind her, but in her mind she didn’t understand social queues and just marching off may have seemed a tad odd. With that she maneuvered herself back towards him and hooked her arm casually around his own, her hand resting on his forearm. "We must hurry so we do not burn alive please."

It was the X in his name that usually murdered people, but Xiao had grown up to every version of his name across the spectrum and now derived a sort of wicked--some might say sick--pleasure from hearing all the different variations that people could come up with. Talwyn, however, was not beyond his capabilities to pronounce. "Wyn..." he murmured to himself, just to be able to remember it. His memory, so precise where it came to his work, could be rather terrible when it came to names and faces. But Wyn was easy enough to remember. Unaware that he was being thought of as small and nervous--Xiao was tall for an Asian and he was... well he was nervous, since he didn't want to get fried--he cast another glance down at the supplies. It seemed a shame to let them sit there unclaimed. There had to be some things of use that he could lug back to the mountains. "Gaaah!" Just as he was about to bend down and gather some light-looking bags, something clipped the side of his head and startled him. He put a hand to his chest like a little old lady, breathing hard for several moments. It was the hawk. It was only the hawk, not... anything else. Meanwhile, Wyn had wandered away with a definite bounce in her step. Xiao stared. "Wha-what?" Protect me?Xiao had been thinking that he could protect Wyn but clearly they weren't on the same page on that--or even in the same library. Half-smiling, he picked up as much as he could carry and hurried after her. "Right! Wouldn't want to end up deep-fried when the sun comes up would we?" And nervously, he looked up at the sky as though he expected the fireball that was Sol to suddenly spring up and blast them both with hellfire. "Oh... there's a... Is that yours too?" He was looking at the dim figure of an animal bounding after them; it looked like a dog from afar. "Did you bring all your pets out here?" Xiao's smile was a little humorous as he hefted the bags so that they sat better over his shoulders. He couldn't blame Wyn, though; somebody brought their pet rat with them on the shuttle he took out of Earth and it nibbled a hole through his jacket. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

they call me a menace they say that i'm cursed arrah almost hadn't bothered making the trek when she saw the ship blazing through the atmosphere (alright, that was an exaggeration - it descended surprisingly slowly for such a large thing), thinking there was no way in the high heavens that she'd be lucky enough to get two items last drop and something this time around, but she'd been cramped into her small dwelling for far too many hours in a row, and she wanted to stretch her legs. She'd realized on the way back from the last gathering that the walk to and from the Drop Point could be considerably shortened just by power-walking, so she alternated tonight between doing just that and casually strolling along, though at either rate she made a point to stay out of others' paths. She was hardly a social person, much preferring the solitude of her nomadic lifestyle, and as she walked she prayed she didn't into anyone she knew so she could just check the crates and GTFO as quickly as possible. Even shaving hours off by walking faster, the trek was tiresome, and she wanted to take a nap somewhere in the middle. Jesus christ, there were a lot of people here. Scowling, Farrah kept her head down and rooted through the containers. Everything looked so goddamn similar, it was a nightmare. With how big some of them were, though, she kicked herself for only packing what she did. Someone had a whole freaking herd of cattle; surely she could've come up something better than the measly items she did. Except they weren't "measly", because she stole or bought them off the black market, thanks to her shady underground connections back on Earth. The thrill of never knowing which deal she walked into would kill her, or when her bad deeds would catch up with her, had kept the game interesting. Out here.... not so much. She'd even been a good girl and hadn't taken a single package that wasn't hers. As her eyes skimmed over a box with a suspicious-looking vial inside, though, Farrah decided that streak would end tonight. As long as she could carry it back, that shit was going with her. Just then, her gaze snagged on a carton with her name on it. Brow raising in surprise, she opened it and rooted through. Damn, it wasn't her liquids, which meant she'd have to wait to poison Logan for another month or more. Unless... Her eyes swung back to the crate she now wouldn't be able to carry (thanks, bum arm). Maybe she could rig something up that would let her take everything back. For now, though, she tucked her binoculars into the sling holding her left arm up (convenient), and carried the box of revolver rounds against her hip. Just as she was assessing this setup to make sure she wasn't going to drop anything on the way back, a shadow passed over her... From above. Knowing that meant nothing good, Farrah's head snapped back to look to the sky. Something had flown between her and the moons, and she'd bet any money it had been one of those bat things. Just as her eyes picked it out against the dark sky, it swooped down, and by reflex she yelled, "Duck!" and hurried toward the man it seemed to be after. What this said about her sense of self-preservation, especially after the last bout of "rescue the lesser being" earned her a broken arm.... We'll just leave that lie. Oh. It.... was a bird. That seemed to belong to a woman walking away from the site. Feeling like an imbecile, Farrah abruptly stopped and searched for any other route she could take so she wouldn't have to own up to her stupidity to two complete strangers. "Duck!"He didn't. His reaction time was awful and while he heard the warning, it still took him far too long to actually obey. Also, he thought somebody was yelling about a duck--an eating duck. Why? Xiao didn't know. Maybe because he hadn't eaten much since he landed on the planet, cautious about anything alien that passed his lips, and his thoughts turned immediately to food when he wasn't working. By the time he realized that a well-meaning woman was yelling out a warning to him, it was too late and the hawk had already clipped the side of his head with its wingtips. Turning, he tried to see who had shouted and pinpointed the culprit--someone looking highly suspicious as she tried to appear nonchalant. (It also helped that a few other people were openly staring at her.) "It's okay!" He waved to her, noticing the condition of her arm and politely not staring too long at it. Injuries were sadly all too common, especially burns, although Xiao was working on a plant oil-based balm to help those caught out in the sun. "It's just a hawk! But thanks!" Xiao paused, turning to watch Wyn walking away, then turned back. He couldn't leave the woman here to struggle with her items, whatever they may have been, when she was obviously injured. Talwyn immediately ducked.
Ducked from her own bird..Who was no where near her.
Immediately her hands covering her head before she realized, just a moment longer, that the requirement for ducking was not necessarily having anything to do with her. Just her dick – head of a bird. Talwyn scowled upwards at Zip, who was just an ass. Well trained. But an Ass. He tended to hate others, especially those near Wyn. Mainly because she was never around anyone new before, and so it was completely new to the hawk. That and the fact he was in cryo for a bazillion years.
Or how ever long.
”Oh my goodness! Look at your arm. Did you try to ride the big giant worm too?” Talwyn had booked right up to her, big blue eyes wide as she looked at the injured woman. Her little trist with the alien worm did not pan out, but at least she almost got 5 seconds. Longest 5 seconds of her life. Collie had not been happy. Hm. Perhaps it is a little weird that her imaginary friend is the more sane of the two. Next she was going to try to ride the leech bird, her mind set on taming, aka being a friend to one of them. Except they seemed to be a bit more intelligent than she was used too, even more so than her wolf.
Still worth a shot though. If there was a lake around here, that would be the ideal leaping from a cliff to try to jump on one moment. Her eyes moved to the one box the girl had been looking at herself, unbeknownst to her that it was not indeed hers, ”Is that yours too? Maybe Xiao” She glanced towards Xiao, then back to nameless ”Maybe we can help? It will be faster, as I am sure you are quite like me, and do not want your body roasted”

they call me a menace they say that i'm cursed arrah breathed a sigh of relief when the guy seemed openly pleasant, making her feel a lot less like an idiot. "I thought it was one of those Vesper things," she admitted, smirking apologetically and continuing forward (mostly so she could get farther away from the people gawking at her). "Oh, I... think I'm okay how I have it, but if you wouldn't mind being on standby in case I drop something, it would probably be helpful." His bright mood was infectious, and without Logan here to piss her off or potentially sexually confuse her, she managed a genuine smile. When the other dark-haired girl turned back to them, Farrah could do nothing but look at her dumbly. How in the hell did she know? Had she seen? The Nomad flushed a bright red, ducking her head a moment to try and hide it. It was dark, but the moons made it bright enough to at least get an idea what color something was. The girl marched right up to her though, which caused Farrah to take a step back. Her face screwed into something between "I don't know what's going on" and "you're seriously in my personal bubble right now". "..You tried to ride one?" she evaded. "Oh," she turned to look back at the crate she'd been tempted to steal, "that... would be nice," she finally finished, and tried to smile kindly at Xiao in a way that wasn't suspicious. He was nice, and she didn't necessarily wish ill on him, but it would be awfully convenient if whoever the crate actually belonged to came around and saw him with it instead of her. Survival instincts kicking in, she knew she'd throw him under the bus just as easily as she took her next breath. And since he was so sweet, he'd hand it over and everyone would walk away happy. Talk about a win-win-win. "Yeah, roasting would be bad," she agreed, "Though I think I made it here a lot faster than last time, just by speed walking. If we start off fast, we could probably get away with a pit stop somewhere in the middle. I don't know about you, but I could use a cat nap."[googlefont=Bungee Outline]

"Ummm..." Xiao looked askance at the box that was indicated, mind still half on the fact that Wyn had tried to ride a giant worm... and apparently made very light of it, to all appearances. Personally, Xiao's reaction to giant worms attempting to eat him alive (he assumed that was what all giant worms did) wouldn't have been to ride them, unless it was to better be able to shoot them in the head, or maybe stab them somewhere vital. And it struck him just then, almost casually, how terribly unfit he was to thrive in this new world, surrounded by people whose survival instincts far outpaced his own. Someone had already met a creature of this planet and came away from the encounter alive. He... found a weed and pricked his finger on one of its thorns by accident. But here was a chance to flex his muscles--literally and figuratively--so he reached for the box, gingerly curling the hand that was still stinging around one of its sides. He tried to lift it--and found it exceedingly heavy. It budged a small fraction before falling back to the ground with a thud, leaving Xiao's neck and ears burning in embarrassment. "Maybe we can tie something around this and pull it along," he said almost a little too quickly, as if the idea didn't just occur to him several moments after he'd made a fool of himself. "I think I saw some harnesses over there." What was in there? Bricks? @@wyn & Farrah Benz MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

She had already forgotten about riding the worm, her attention on watching Xiao attempt to pick up the crate before failing miserably. Oh! He was so cute! Like a puppy! She was so glad she was here to protect him. Although, perhaps the other girl needed protecting as well. After all, she was injured. They were definitely lucky to have her. Even if she didn’t realize that the broken armed girl could probably still take her down in a flash of a moment. But , everyones got to entertain themselves with grandeur. Glancing at Xiao after the crate thumped down, she smiled up at him reassuringly much like she would a little puppy that was trying really hard. Her hand reached out and she actually pat his head lightly, before she swung her bag around her shoulder and retrieved a hammer. With quick ease she used the prong end to pry the top up, showing a single vial surrounded by stuffing to protect it from breaking. Although, the stuffing was surprisingly soft, yet seemed to weigh as much as rocks. This is probably why it originally fell back down trying to pick it up. (hope that’s an okay explanation for his supreme weakness LOL)
Easily enough she bent at the waste and picked up the vial before throwing it in the air without caution, which probably gave the broken armed girl a tiny heart attack. Catching it instantly in one hand before doing a little dip and ”Ta!Da!” A brilliant smile etched across her face in triumph…And well..If perhaps she had been paying attention to her friend Collie, she would have noted barely legible was a name on the crate that would not have matched the broken armed girl. If they had asked her name. Her eyes then looked and focused solely on the vial, studying it before glancing at the no-name girl ”What is it? Doesn’t seem like much..”

they call me a menace they say that i'm cursed er brow shot skyward as she watched the poor boy struggle to lift the crate. He has to be faking, she thought, Surely he's not actually that weak... Trying to be casual, though, she said, "Oh, it's alright, we can leave it for now." This way she could say it wasn't her explicit choice to leave the tardy person's belongings there, and she could convince herself she wasn't a nice, considerate person after all. Because nice, considerate people didn't make it very far when the world didn't give a shit about you. Wow, okay, dark. Farrah shook her head a little to clear it, not appreciating the blast from the past. The other girl was already prying open the crate's lid, so she let the action distract her. Welp, that was one way to convince herself she wasn't a good person, too. Eyeing the vial, she wondered what the hell could be inside. It was clear, with a slight yellow-orange tinge that made Farrah uncomfortable. Her time in Louisiana taught her how to make all sorts of things out of the leaves and roots and saps of different plants, but this.... This wasn't "natural". Which probably meant it was dangerously potent. She smiled wickedly, then cleared her throat and turned slightly away. They couldn't see her celebrating like this, or they'd get suspicious. Her heart did a little flip in her chest when the girl just nonchalantly threw it in the air like she was some sort of colorguard. By some grace of god, she managed not to reach out for it and tell the girl what a moron she was. Instead, she plastered a phony smile on her face and shrugged at the question. "I don't know, actually," she confessed, "My grandmother left it to me in her will, and she told me to use it only in 'dire circumstances'." The lie flowed easily from her tongue, and she rolled her good shoulder, feeling like she was starting to get back to her normal self. This planet had made her soft, and being soft would get her killed (or worse: taken advantage of). "You guys about ready, then?" Farrah asked a few moments later, trying to appear nonchalant as she moved to make her escape with the stolen goods. [googlefont=Bungee Outline]
