Zee often found herself wandering to the drop point just to see if anyone new had arrived or if any of her stuff had miraculously made it from earth. She often found herself disappointed, but she usually wasn't the only one. There were sometimes other people milling around, waiting, looking up at the sky, praying, cursing, or grumbling in a show of displeasure. She didn't think any of them had truly grasped what awated them on PE until they had finally arrived and saw that there was a whole lot of nothing in every direction they looked. It sometimes made her wonder how long it would take for them to get buildings built, running water established, electricity, and all the other stuff they were used to on Earth... but then again she liked roughing it. There was nothing quite like looking up at the stars and being able to see all of them because there was so very little light pollution to drown them out.
She looked from person to person and couldn't help but think that they looked as if they were expecting something. But what? Yeah, she often came to see what was up, but wouldn't they have some kind of word that they were expecting a ship of people, or a ship with their belongings? Maybe they had gotten word and she just didn't know because she didn't always pay attention, but whatever. No big deal.
The girl dropped down to the ground and sat in the sand for a bit before laying back. Her arms were stretched out at her sides and she tapped the toes of her boots together as she stared up at the blue sky. White clouds floated lazily and she found herself doing what she'd done on Earth numerous times when she was little. "That one looks like a pirate ship." she whispered to herself and smiled. Some things never changed even even if the planet was different.

Gather ye demons I sin but i've paid more than ten thousand graves ”You're not supposed to leave camp Jace.” Two men came walking in to the drop point, one walking very quickly and the other following a short distance behind as if watching over the other. The deep, smooth, and calm voice (obviously trying to avoid a scene) came from the man in back.
”Oh aye? And wha' the hell am I supposed ta do lad, keep staring at every damn rock in the place? I've been starin' at the bloody things for three damn months!” The man in the lead turned around and spoke, quite a bit louder as his heavy Irish accent drowned out most of the conversations nearby (obviously trying to cause a scene).
”You haven't been here for three months...” The man spoke calmly, placing his hands behind his back. The two men were roughly the same size, which was to say quite large, but the way they held themselves was quite different. The man with the deep voice held himself in a way that even from a distance one would assume he was likely a Watcher. The other held himself in a very unique way, his posture and behavior almost seemed to suggest he was ready to fight; all the time.
”I've named every damn one o' them... And Carl is a hell o' lot friendlier than you boy-o!” Ever since the spacecraft landed on the foreign planet, most people had been so shocked about what had happened and why they left, that everyone got along fairly well. It seems that adversity brought people of all color and creed together... Which is likely why the few people who were at the drop point were watching the scene with a bit of surprise, confrontation wasn't something that were expecting.
The two men stared at each other in silence for a moment, the quieter of the two glanced around before calmly speaking once more, ”Fine, you can walk around, but don't go far.” As the man finished speaking, he nodded knowingly to a large metal bracelet secured firmly around Jace's right ankle.
The Irishman bowed slightly at these words, ”Thank ye fer givin' me permission ta walk, mother.” Despite the aggressive tone and general profanity of Jace Maddox; just because he was rude and insulted someone didn't mean he disliked the person. In fact sometimes it was his perverse way of showing he did like them, but he also did it to people he didn't like because hey, equality right?
As soon as the Watcher stepped away, Jace turned around and walked a bit further in to the drop point. There weren't many people there, but several were watching him; whether because of the scene they just witnessed or they recognized who he was unimportant to him. The rest seemed to be waiting for something, talking with one another and pointing to the sky. Though there conversations were obviously about when the next ship would drop down or when more of their supplies would come, the feeling Jace got from them was different. They weren't waiting for more people to see if they were alive, they were waiting for more people to not be alone... So they could feel like all of this was worth it. It was a pitiful state. Not that Jace cared! Well maybe a little, or a lot, but there wasn't much he could do about it and he was about the worst comforter in existence.
So for a few moments Jace walked through the sand in this way, watching at the people as they watched the sky. As he stopped walking, he realized he was standing beside someone who was laying flat on their back. Jace stared down curiously for a moment, though he had to admit, if you were going to come to the Drop Point to stare at the sky, it was smart to put yourself in a position where the sky was all you saw. He was a short distance from the woman, which he assumed was far enough to not make her uncomfortable, maybe... who knows really, he was always piss poor at the whole "personal space" thing, ”Comfortable?”

Voices tended to carry over open spaces and when those voices had distinct accents it made them even easier to pick out. She couldn't hear exactly what was being said, but she could tell from the tone that someone was unhappy. Weren't they all unhappy, though? They were all millions and millions of miles away from home, most of them didn't know where their families were, the had only the clothes that they'd woken up with and whatever small items that they'd been able to bring with them. And they knew next to nothing about the planet they were on. Anyone who was happy obviously had stashed some pills away somewhere and needed to share with everyone so they could all be happy.
Zee closed her eyes for a bit and she focused on the breeze that made her bangs brush against her forehead, the warmth of the sun, the sand beneath her hands and the voices faded away. She didn't hear the accented voice that was looking for a fight or the quiet murmurs of the people milling around the drop point watching the sky and waiting for ships. It made her think of the old saying "a watched pot never boils" except she'd have to change it to "drop ships never drop if you watch the sky" or something to that effect.
Her eyes popped back open when she heard a voice and she was surprised to see the man standing near her. Zee sat up and shielded her eyes with her hand as she looked up -- oh my god was he tall! -- and smiled. "Very comfortable." She recognized his accent and naturally assumed that he was one of the ones that she'd heard talking. Her hand fell from shielding her eyes from the sun and she patted the ground next to her. "Have a seat, there's plenty of room."
She waited a moment before laying back in the sand again, her arms stretching above her head. "Oh, I'm Zee." Because she had to remember that it was polite and expected that you introduce yourself to people. Of course it was probably also polite that you stand up and shake someone's hand instead of remaining laying on the ground, but whatever. At least she'd introduced herself and she'd even offered him a seat, nevermind the fact that it was on the ground. It wasn't like she'd packed a chair for the trip to another planet.

Gather ye demons I sin but I've paid more than ten thousand graves As the woman sat up, Jace was able to better take in her features. No, he wasn't checking her out, he was simply admiring the physique of his fellow Earthly survivor. Definitely not admiring her body. It was important to know who was fit, and able to fight and take care of themselves should the need arise. After all, only dogs simply walked up to a woman and checked her out without even getting to know her and well... Who was he kidding? Woof.
”I noticed... Seems ta be a whole planet worth o' room.” Jace wasn't going to refuse her offer. With a quick glance behind him, he saw that the man who had followed him here had apparently left. Not that it mattered, that damn bracelet shackled to his ankle made sure he never got too far. Jace dropped roughly onto the sand as the woman introduced herself as "Zee".
”Well, bloody good ta finally meet ye Zee! The names Y.” Did it matter if she got the joke, better question, did it matter if she thought it was funny? Not really, a good percentage of every joke Jace cracked was for him alone. In his mind, he was laughing right now; he was his own best audience. It wasn't until he sat down next to Zee that he realized just how much smaller she was than him, not just in height, it was cute; like a little puppy... Like a little alphabetical puppy.
Jace sat there in silence for a moment, much like a teenage boy with ADD; staring at the sky, then at Zee, then around him. After being cooped up in prison for so long, it was so liberating to be in the open. Which made it even more hellish that he couldn't actually go wherever he wanted, ”So eh... What the hell are ye staring at lass?” He asked kindly. Jace enjoyed being around other people, a lot! It felt new to him almost, but it had been so long since he had been able to that he wasn't always sure how to converse normally... or without swearing.

"Well, bloody good ta finally meet ye Zee! The names Y." He said and Zee grinned even though the joke was a lame one that she'd heard quite a few times. "Y as in 'Y am I on this planet?' or 'Y did I not come to the drop point earlier and meet with the amazing Zee'?" The girl teased. When he sat down next to her the difference in sheer size betweent hem became even more apparant and Zee stared. "So, hey. How tall are you? You're huge." She was willing to bet that if they stood side by side the top of her head might reach his elbow. Zee stared for a bit longer then turned her attention back to the sky. Puffy white clouds continued to float lazily across the ocean of blue and, still, no drop ships were in sight. From the corner of her vision she could see 'Y' moving his head -- looking at her, then the sky, then around them -- before finally asking what she was looking at. "Nothing really." She answered. "I was watching the clouds. There was one that looked like a pirate ship earlier, but I don't see it anymore." Childish, yes, but it was better than standing around worrying over ships and supplies and what animals might be on the planet and the fact that humans might not be on the top of the food chain on PE.
"See that one right there?" She asked, pointing up at one of the many clouds. "It looks a little bit like a dog, doesn't it?" Honestly, she wouldn't have been a bit surprise if he got up and walked away because she didn't know many men that enjoyed cloud watching, so she changed the subject. "So, Y, what do you do here? Anything interesting?"

Gather ye demons I sin but i've paid more than ten thousand graves ”Something like that...” Jace said with a slight smile, she thought his bad jokes were amusing? Jace wasn't sure what was stranger now, him or her? So hey. How tall are you? You're huge? The small but attractive woman questioned him.
”That's what she said... but I never heard any complaints about it.” What? She said he was huge, he couldn't pass up such a juvenile joke, ”I'm tall enough ta reach the cookies on the top shelf, let's just put it tha' way lass.” He said with an almost smile, almost meaning he attempted to look kind, but probably looked constipated. The girl was amusing him, so it was worth the effort to be nice... Well, not nice, but not an ass.
As she began talking about the clouds Jace looked up as well. He saw neither a dog nor a pirate ship, but he did see a crowd of people running from a mushroom cloud; that was nice. There was also a radish, very intriguing. Behind that he saw what looked like a ferret copulating with a pumpkin. That one was weird even for him; which is why he didn't mention any of it to the girl. She probably didn't care as much about pumpkin's being in heat as he did... Not that he did mind you... Moving on.
With her soft voice breaking his thoughts on pumpkin gestation, his eyes darted back to her, ”I'm a door ta door salesman, business has been really slow wha' with the lack o' things to sell... an' doors...” Jace paused for a moment, awkwardly, mostly on purpose as well. ”Ye wanna take a walk wit me?”

"Ugh, lucky." Zee scoffed at Jace's jest at being able to reach the top shelf. "You have no idea how miserable it is to not be able to reach the top shelf." The girl said as she lookeed at him. "Do you know I have to stand on a chair just to reach the top shelf? And sometimes I still have find something to scoot what I need to the front of the shelf." She raised her eyebrows. "When I had to go grocery shopping back on Earth I used to have to climb on the shelves to get what I needed, sometimes." And she'd gotten in trouble on more than one occasion for and very nearly kicked out of a store once. She could have used someone that could reach the top shelf.
She watched him as he looked up to study the clouds, but he didn't tell her what he thought they looked like. He probably thought she was just a silly girl, but that didn't matter. Cloud watching was the only thing that really made PE seem like Earth to her. "You don't think they look like anything?" She prompted before deciding that it was best to keep the conversation moving along and not get stuck on the clouds.
The bit about being a door to door salesman made her laugh because he didn't look like any salesman she'd ever seen. "So what did you sell door to door?" She asked. "I bet it was something cool, like ... like outdoor survival kits or ... or." She looked him over again, noticing the ankle bracelet for the first time. She definitely hadn't seen anyone with one of those before, but before she could ask him about it he was asking her if she wanted to walk.
"Sure." Zee said and she pushed herself up from where she'd been laying in the said, paused to brush herself off, then turned to Jace. "Where to?"
