[attr="class","sinlyrics"]we've become echoes
[attr="class","sinlyrics2"]but echoes fade away
[attr="class","sinbody2"]He was sure he was going to get tired of this driving back and forth thing, but Jaron was just thoughtful enough to know not everyone would heed the warnings and hightail it to the mountains tonight. Since he'd had to leave his car on the Exurbia side of the river, it had been in broad daylight for the past several weeks. When he went to check on it after Sol went down today, he was more than a little dismayed to note the car wasn't as sleek at it had been just a few days prior. The hood had partially sunken in, revealing the outline of the battery; the roof sagged a few places, and the rear bumper looked like a mini roller coaster with all the areas it dipped. He wouldn't be surprised if he lost that bumper while travelling tonight, considering how close to the ground the car rode and how uneven the terrain was.
Regardless of its flaws, though, the vehicle thankfully still functioned. With how much sunlight it'd been getting, its battery was fully charged at the beginning of the night. Jaron was sure it would get pretty depleted if he kept making return trips for people, but he could worry about that later. Clearly the car wouldn't be able to sit in direct light during this hellacious summer, but maybe it would still be able to charge from reflected beams? He'd have to mess with it and find out.
It was his third trip back down the riverbank now (the grass was lowest here, so he could drive faster), meaning he'd put in about six hours of driving so far. He rubbed sleep from his eyes, silently cursing himself for being such a "good guy". Really, he would stop the loops once he found Zee and got her to safety; she'd tasked him with carting her ammo and gun to the mountains, but had stayed back herself. He suspected she just didn't want to be in confined quarters with him for any length of time considering how the night back at his place at gone, but that didn't stop him from looking.
Dude, you really need to get over this stupid little crush, his subconscious piped up, to which he swiftly replied, I just need to get laid. The more he told himself that the less he believed it, but still he continued to flirt with every female (close to his age, mind you) that he came across. Apparently he was getting rusty, though, as evidenced by Eloise - the frustrating woman who was surprisingly six years his elder. His body still said she'd do, despite his mind screaming in protest. She'd swiftly turned him down, however, making the decision for him.
In his musings, Jaron nearly missed the person he'd just whipped past. Realizing his mistake, he slammed on the brakes and turned the wheel hard, causing the car to drift several feet before he was heading back the direction he'd come. His brain had already deduced the woman wasn't Zee - her hair was too long - but he stopped anyway and rolled down the window. Nights weren't quite as dark as they used to be - he assumed it was from the increased sunlight reflecting off the moons - so he could partially see the girl's features. Her outline was appealing, at least, but he'd have to wait until she got in the Quant to determine whether or not she was a butterface. Y'know.. Like everything's nice but her face.
Rolling down the window (and nearly choking against the humid air that rushed in), he leaned out and smiled. "Want a ride?" he asked charmingly.
