Rather than sit at in the ship that she'd converted to her medic station and wait for people to come in complaining to her about their ailments, Riley had decided that she was going to take the day off. She told one of the watchers that was hanging around that she was going to be out for the day and motioned to him to watch her place. "If anything comes up missing I"m coming after you." She warned, one eyebrow quirking upward. And she was totally serious, she never forgot a face and if any of her shit went missing she would remember who she had given the responsibilty of guard duty to. What she would do to him was a little less clear in her mind, but it was guaranteed to be wholly unpleasant for the man should she be forced to retalliate.
Once Riley was satisfied that she'd been taken seriously -- which by now she wasn't sure why some of the watchers still didn't take her seriously when she told them something -- she headed toward the river. It wasn't often that she had the pleasure of having the day to herself -- there was always some emergency that needed tending to; sually it was the careless watchers that cut themselves while they were doing something stupid or kids that fell and scraped their knees or elbows, so she relished the time she got alone. She liked the quiet.
Much to her dismay, however, the river was a gathering point for the colonies being their only source of fresh water and all. An irritated sigh slipped past her lips and she rolled her eyes. There was no way that she would be able to stay where there were so many people gathered because they all knew of her in some way or another -- how many orange haired medics were there on Petra Exterior? So she kept walking and hoped that farther down ther river she would find a place that would be totally vacant so she could really have a moment of peace and quiet and absolute solitude.
As she walked she pulled out the pack of cigarettes she always kept stashed away in her pocket and plucked a cigarette from it and brought it to her lips. The pack was returned to her pocket and she produced the lighter next, pausing long enough to cup her hands around the end of the cigarette and light it. She took a long drag, held her breath for a few seconds then blew the smoke out in a slow. steady stream as she started walking again. Already the people gathering water, playing, or just soaking after long hours working were getting to be fewer and fewer, but it wasn't until she was on the very outskirts of Exurbia that she was finally alone.
Perfect.
