PERSONALITY[break]
Ruth is good at her job. She's patient, motherly, warm and kind. The woman has a knack of knowing what a patient needs before the itch to ask ever arises. Her work is thorough and meticulous; a testament to her endless days of studies and practice. The woman is a doctor that's cautious at raising hopes but does not deny it’s comfort to those in need of it. These traits often make her seem whole in a sense, that the lady is the kind to bake cookies in her spare time or sit and enjoy a glass of wine with friends. Unfortunately, such imagery is far from the truth.[break][break]
While her approachable nature does carry into her life beyond the hospital, she is about as sociable and exciting as a stick in mud. The truth is that she had never baked a cookie in her life and instead of going out to be social, most of her time is spent pouring over new studies and reading over her notes from medical school.[break][break]
Due to this hermit attitude, Ruth is having an especially hard time adapting to this new world. Not the whole ‘survival-or-die’ thing, no. That’s a simple matter or doing what is best for one’s survival. What she’s struggling with is the all the socializing that comes with it. Hardships bring about vulnerability in people and, back home, such was only shown in the privacy of her workplace. Here? Well, here hardship is everywhere and more than once she had been seen as council at the most inconvenient times. The doctor's seclusion all but stolen from her and, with it, her comfort.
[break][break]
HISTORY[break]
Ruth was not born into greatness. Truth be told, the circumstances in her earlier life is a mystery. The first memories of her childhood was, instead, when greatness decided to find her. She was adopted. Hand plucked from her fellow foster brothers and sisters for the promise of perfection. There had been a twinkle in her eye, her mothers would often swoon whenever they recalled the memory, a twinkle that showed an intelligence beyond her years. [break][break]
The newly welcomed Olson was not the first child to be saved by the doctor and engineer power couple. No, in total there were four of them that were chosen to carry on the Olson name- each child chosen for their potential greatness above all else. Their parents worked them, drafting into activities at a young age and pressing for studying at the earliest possibility. For the most part, the plan had worked. The children held above average grades within their class- the eldest even being gifted enough to skip a few of the years so that he was properly challenged. They competed among themselves (healthily, of course) to see which one among them would achieve the highest claim to greatness and, ultimately, their mothers’ praise. [break][break]
It was due to this upbringing that Ruth went into medicine. To become a doctor was one of the most respected professions. It was also one of the most challenging. It was during those years of study that she found her to-be husband and graduated with all she wanted in life in the palm of her hands. [break][break]
It wasn’t until Ruth was facing the peak of her career that hardship finally hit. Her marriage was starting to fall apart and the one thing that she wanted the most was unattainable: A child. It was a slow torture, caring for infants while she was barren. It did not take long for the divorce papers to hit and for Ruth to throw every moment of her day dedicated to her work. Dealing with inner conflict has never been one of her strong suits. [break][break]
The appeal of a fresh start was what made the doctor to sign up for this new adventure. It was a time for a hard reset, to continue life where her troubles didn’t haunt her days. She had the funds, the skill, and the determination to be one of the first few to step foot on this fresh new world.
