DISCOVERED
How it's going to work: Each post you make that has your character finding something not previously described (plant, animal, topography, etc.), tag the new NPC account, discovered , in the footnotes and briefly describe what was found. It'll be added to this list the following month!
When you're posting in any of the four unmapped areas (or are posting under a mapped board but have your character venture out), a random event or find will occur after there have been 6 replies to that thread. If you are writing the 6th reply, tag discovered in the footnotes and write a brief description of where you are / what's been happening (ie - have your characters been in the same place the whole time (in which case only a random event can happen), or have they been walking around (so they could potentially find something new)?). So static things can be added to the master map, make sure you've marked your thread on this map while it's ongoing (mark a number on the map where the thread is taking place, then put what that number stands for as a comment on the side). You can keep writing in the thread while you wait for your random event/find; this note is just to make sure you don't go a whole thread without finding anything. If the thread keeps going for a while after the first find/event, and your characters are moving around enough to warrant them finding something else, feel free to tag discovered again and more fun things can occur. Just don't make this happen before the 12th reply (don't get greedy xP).
COLONY IMPROVEMENTS
MORE NEW THINGS!
Your characters are put into specific classes for a reason - it's time to start making them work for it. This subheader will mostly contain things like so-and-so architect built some houses, this cultivator planted a bunch of carrots for the colony, that generator found a way to harvest the river current for x purpose, etc., but for this first go-'round, we'll use it to explain a bit more.
Your character should do something class-like once over the course of the month. A Watcher protects the colony from something strange, an Explorer goes out and actually discovers something, etc. If you're awesome and have them do two things in a month, you'll be rewarded with the opportunity to choose one of the following:
- Double your chance to receive something in the next Drop (you can choose any or all of your chars) - note this doesn't guarantee you'll get anything, it's still randomized
- Restock an item in that character's inventory (for example: Suzie has 23/50 antiseptic wipes left - restock to the full 50)
MARKETS
This is where we'll let you know what's up for grabs in the markets each month. There will be a certain number of each item, and in order to receive an item, your character must propose a trade. A randomizer will decide if your trade is accepted, denied, or the marketeer asks for a revision. You can only trade something your character received in a drop, has by way of another trade, or made themselves (must link the post they made it in) - no stealing/borrowing from an NPC! More than one character can trade for things, and items can be broken up. For example: 7 different people could trade for the knives below, or trades could be proposed for 3 and then 4 of them, whatever.
If your character doesn't want to have to trade anything, you can have them try to steal from the market. Their success will be up to the randomizer, with a 25% chance that they succeed. If they are caught, future trades in that colony will have double the chance of being denied for a period of 6 months.
On the note of stealing/borrowing from NPCs - no more! If your character currently has something that was "borrowed", "gifted", whatever... lose it.
