Forging Ahead
As Rhys stepped away from the shuttle the all too familiar looking sun washed onto his grimacing face and his hand rose up to his temple. This is a feeling had become commonplace to Rhys in recent years and sadly his usual remedy of a few horrid cups of coffee and an unusually greasy omelet from Stella’s was not an option. The hometown diner that was once just down the road from Bud's Garage was now in a literal fashion light years away. As he continued down the ramp Rhys decided that his jet black aviators and his determination would have to suffice until Stella would open up her new location here. As Rhys finally completed exodus onto the planet he took what he hoped would be his first of many steps across this new world. A smile came across his face at that thought because other than a few less than legal trips down south he has not traveled much and here he was standing on a new planet. A planet where everyone finally had a fair chance and one he would be proud to call his home even if he had to forge it all himself. FORGE, I guess that will be pretty important now. He quickly flips though the book weighing heavy in his left hand and sat against the side of the shuttle. Chapter 1: Building your own forge. If you want to work with metal, there's one thing you have to confront: You need heat. With it, you can make the toughest metal submit to your will. Without it, you'll never gain full mastery over this stubborn material. Over the years, I have been frustrated by my inability to work hot steel. I've bolted metal together… signed, @mordecai | |

so charming @mordecai BY MINNIE OF GS "Does this planet suck, She was there, for once, not looking hopelessly to the sky. She was starting to wonder if any of her stuff was ever going to get here, though she supposed it probably really hadn't been that long in the grand scheme of things. How long it took to get out here versus how long she'd been on PE... Alright, the second number was pretty minuscule. That didn't change the fact that she needed her stuff in order to do the work they sent her to do.
But maybe, just maybe, there would be something of use in one of the old ships. The skins had all been removed, using the heavy sheet metal to build houses and supplies, but the inner bits were far less picked over. Something about people scrambling to figure out how to start over distracted them from finding gold among the wreckage, which was entirely to Audrey's advantage. So here she was, pant legs rolled up, shirt sleeves pushed back, and hair tied in a haphazard braid, throwing metal bits every which way as she looked for something that might be able to help her get her study started. Another ship had just come in, but she'd stopped paying them much heed since she had no known family coming in on them. It was kind of entertaining to see the different levels of defrosted people walked out as, though. Some acted drunk, stumbling all over the damn place, while others walked out like they'd just had the best nap of their lives. She really would have liked to say she'd come out as the latter...
Mid-throw, she noticed someone that wasn't standing in line with the others, gathering their little bags and getting one of those sandpapery space-meals to tide them over until they got to the colonies. That was.. odd. Pausing, she studied him for a couple of minutes, watching the way her curved over the book he was holding like he was just lounging at the local library rather than newly arrived to a foreign planet. She dropped whatever she was holding, sat on the edge of the grating she'd been standing on, and jumped down to the sand. It was only about a seven foot drop, and the sand was soft enough to cushion her fall anyway.
"Well you seem.... freakishly well-adapted," she commented, striding up to stand before the man. It wasn't the world's greatest 'Hello, nice to meet you,' but it's wasn't Audrey's job to be the greeting service. or is it just me?" - Audrey
